The city of the hanging houses
Today we’ll tell the tourist attractions that this small Spanish town of just over 56 000 inhabitants. The “hanging houses” are great works of architecture and other captive visit are the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art and the Cathedral of Cuenca, whose windows were made by two artists from the abstract movement.
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, the town of Cuenca is the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha and counts among its main beauties of the famous “hanging houses.”
Currently you can get from Madrid to Cuenca in 45 minutes by high speed trains. This town founded by the Moors back in SigloVIII was originally built as a fortress and is located naturally on a rock between the rivers lace holes and the JĂșcar.
Undoubtedly one of the two most representative buildings of Cuenca are “The hanging houses” that are suspended over the canyon of the river were originally hollow and noble residence.
Currently working there the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art. It is worth noting that Cuenca was the cradle of Spanish Abstract Art since many artists have chosen this site as a residence and place have their own art workshops: such is the case of Gerardo Rueda, Antonio Saura and Gustavo Torner.
Second image can not fail to mention the Gothic Cathedral of Cuenca was process underway in 1182 and like most churches in the city was damaged during the Spanish Civil War. Restored not long ago, was renovated with stained glass windows full of color found in the main nave and side chapels. These windows were designed by Torner and Rueda.
